APC calls for sack of INEC officials in Abia

26 February 2016, 21:55

Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has called for the sack of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the state rerun election scheduled for March 5, reports Punch.

The party said it has lost confidence in the capabilities of INEC as presently constituted in the state to conduct a free and fair rerun election in the state.

A member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Amb. Sam Nkeire, who led a delegation of the state party officials to meet with the APC national leadership said this in Abuja on Thursday.

He noted that the party’s stakeholders in the state are of the view that the state INEC as presently constituted did not have the best interest of the people at heart.

Nkeire explained that if the conduct of the electoral body during the governorship election was anything to go by, the state chapter of the party is of the view that the desire of the people to have a free and fair election will not see the light of day.
