Rivers - The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State is demanding the arrest of senior officials of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly tarnishing the image of police following the attacks on the latter’s members last week.
PDP's Rivers chapter alleged APC had sent thugs to invade Government House, Port Harcourt under the protection of Assistant Commissioner of Police Steven Hasso.
However, APC has denied the allegations, especially any collusion with police.
“The APC further calls on the Police and other security agencies to promptly arrest Felix Obuah and Jerry Needam,” said APC regional spokesperson, Chris Finebone.
He said the arrest of the PDP Rivers chairman and his spokesperson respectively would assist police unravel the claim that several members of PDP were shot by police.

“This is the only way to stem the unguarded blackmail by the PDP in Rivers State against the Police, the other security agencies and the Federal Government,” Finebone added.
“The APC believes that the poisoned arrows the PDP is now shooting at the Nigeria Police are misplaced, undeserved, unnecessary and borne out of debilitating frustration having danced naked in the ever dicey arena of the general public.”
The calls for Obuah’s and Needam’s arrests represents heightening tensions between the two rival parties, who have been at loggerheads since the run-up to the governorship election PDP’s Nyesom Wike won in 2015.
