APC fears Dasuki could become president, claims PDP

03 January 2016, 07:05

Lagos – Former president Goodluck Jonathan’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reportedly accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party for targeting its members in the ongoing fight against corruption.

Punch reported on Sunday that President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade had been described as a war between APC and the PDP.

The PDP claimed that Buhari and his ruling party were using the anti-corruption campaign to “target and destroy it” it so that “it (ACP) can push through Buhari’s second tenure in 2019 without opposition from PDP”.

The PDP said the Federal Government was persecuting, and not prosecuting, Colonel Sambo Dasuki as it feared that the former National Security Adviser could be harbouring a presidential ambition.

This came as Catholic priest and founder of the Adoration Ministry, Reverend Ejike Mbaka reportedly claimed during his New Year sermon that there were  plans by unnamed people to assassinate president Buhari over his campaign against corruption.

"Many people are planning to kill Buhari – there are many plans on how to eliminate his life so that corruption will continue, so that embezzlement will continue," Mbaka was quoted as saying.

He, however, encourage Buhari to remain "firm" and "resolute", saying God would "protect" him.
