APC refutes internal strife in Edo structures

03 May 2016, 20:01

Abuja - An All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant in the Edo State governorship poll, Chris Ogiemwonyi, has denied infighting within the party in the region.

He blamed “enemies of democracy of the state” for spreading the reports.

“Our attention has been drawn to the purported division in the APC by some online local newspapers claiming that the party has become factionalised into three groups, namely, Governor Adams Oshiomhole's faction, the deputy governor's faction and the PDP decampees faction,” said Ogiemwonyi.

He said the APC in Edo State was “one indivisible family.”

“There are no new comers or joiners, neither is there a group called PDP Decampees faction,” Ogiemwonyi said.

He was referring to a repeated statement made by an online publication which read, “APC has since been split into three factions, the Oshiomhole's faction, the Odubu's faction and the PDP decampees faction.”

Ogiemwonyi said it was obvious that as the September governorship poll drew closer, “the political terrain will witness more dramatic and mischievous development.”
