APC suffers another setback in Taraba

22 June 2016, 18:06

Jalingo - The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has suffered another set back one year after losing the 2015 general election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, reports Thisday.

Taraba was the only state in the North where APC lost in all the elections conducted in the 2015 general election to the PDP with PDP winning the presidential, governorship and majority of the seats in the national and state assemblies elections.

The APC Secretary in the state,  Tony Baba Suleiman on Tuesday defected to the PDP.

Suleiman defected along with the party’s Chairman in Sardauna local government area, Yusuf Gori Tanimu and hundreds of other members of the party, reports Today.

Suleiman who spoke on behalf of other defectors said their decision to dump APC was based on their perception that the APC of the day is not in the interest of Taraba State.

Suleiman said the leadership of the APC in the state has resorted to petty politics by sidelining majority of its supporters that supported and gave it life in the state.

Receiving the defectors at the party’s secretariat in Jalingo, PDP Chairman, Victor Bala Kona said PDP is still the best solution to this country, because APC is a virus and has failed.
