APC wins Nasarawa by-election

Lafia - The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday declared Ja’afaru Mohammed-Ibrahim of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency by-election, reports The Nation.

Mohammed-Ibrahim got 55 981 votes to beat his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Musa Ahmed-Mohammed, who got 17 475 votes.
Announcing the result in Nasarawa, Nasarawa local government area of the state, Dr Wilfred Uji, of the Federal University, Lafia, who is the Constituency Returning Officer, said  the election has been concluded peacefully.

The election was earlier declared inconclusive due to the amount of cancelled votes outnumbering the gap between the APC and PDP., reports News24.

Uji lauded the roles played by political stakeholders and security agencies in ensuring a peaceful conduct of the election and called for the sustenance of this culture.
