APC won't cede Senate presidency to PDP – Oyegun

21 April 2016, 11:21

Abuja - Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun has recanted his earlier statement that the party might concede the leadership of the Senate to the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oyegun according to reports credited to him had said the APCy was ready to sacrifice the Senate Presidency to the opposition if the incumbent, Bukola Saraki, loses his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

But, Oyegun on Wednesday while addressing journalists in Abuja said under no circumstance will the ruling party concede the leadership of the Senate.

The ruling party boss said the issue of which party to produce the Senate President should not even arise in the first place.

He said the issue of losing the number three citizen’s job does not arise as APC is still the majority party in the Senate.
