APGA crisis deepens as party disowns Vice Chairman

27 October 2016, 12:07

Abuja - The crisis rocking the  All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has deepened as some party members have disowned the party's  Vice-Chairman, South East zone, Nwabueze Okafor, reports Today.

The party had been in crisis since the National Chairman of the party, Victor Oye was suspended from office.

News 24 recalls that Oye was suspended form office on October 5  for gross misconduct.

The decision to suspend Oye was allegedly taken during the party's National Working Committee meeting in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the NWC, Okafor said the suspension was necessary in order to save the party from impending destruction and reposition it to greatness, given the circumstances surrounding the party under the leadership of the suspended chairman.

But some members of the NWC on Wednesday said the party never held its National Working Committee meeting, as claimed by Okafor.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ifeatu Obiokoye said no such meeting held anywhere.

According to him, Oye is still the National Chairman of APGA.

He said that members of the NWC of APGA remained unquestionably committed to the resolution reached at the peace meeting convened at the instance of the national leader and chairman, Board of Trustees.
