APGA urges INEC to declare Anambra senatorial seats vacant

02 February 2016, 18:28

Awka - The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the seats of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the Anambra State Senatorial elections vacant, reports Channels TV.

The party’s call was as a result of its interpretation to the Supreme Court judgment of January 29 that upheld the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership of Ejike Oguebego in Anambra State.

Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, gave INEC the option of conducting a fresh election or return the APGA candidates who came second in the said election as duly elected on grounds that the PDP did not present any candidate in the election.

He stated that, although, the Supreme Court gave victory to the Oguebego-led executive of Anambra PDP, the candidates in his line-up did not have the opportunity to contest the election.
