Appeal Court affirms 2 Ekiti PDP senators’ election

Ado Ekiti - The legal battle over the Ekiti South and Central Senatorial districts in the March 28 National Assembly elections was on Thursday laid to rest, reports The Nation.

The Court of Appeal in Ado Ekiti affirmed the elections of Abiodun Olujimi and Fatimat Rasak of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ekiti South, Anthony Adeniyi had sought nullification of Olujimi’s election on grounds that she did not resign her appointment as a member of the National Communications Commission (NCC) board at the time she contested.

The PDP candidate in Ekiti Central, Rasaki’s emergence was challenged by the APC candidate, Gbenga Olofin on the allegation that the election conducted in the senatorial district was marred by violence, corrupt practices and that Rasaki was not validly elected by lawful votes cast at the poll.
