Atiku kicks against return of Ribadu to APC

20 July 2016, 13:31

Yola - Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has kicked against the return of the former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ribadu according to Daily Post on Tuesday returned to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ribadu accepted the call of Adamawa State chapter of the party seeking his return, along with a former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN ) in the state, Marcus Gundiri, and their supporters.

The presidency and APC national leaders had earlier reached out to him.

However, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Adamawa Governor Jibrilla Bindow, and two others have protested to the National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun and the National Working Committee (NWC) against Ribadu’s return, reports The Nation

They raised the issue during their visit to the APC secretariat on Monday.

But, the APC leadership told Atiku, the governor and others that the constitution allows an individual to join a party of his choice.

They were told that once a state chapter of the party is receptive to anyone’s membership, there is a limit to which the national headquarters can do.
