Abuja - Joseph Avazi on Saturday emerged as the new Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), reports Leadership.
He was elected at the party's National Convention held in Abuja.
He replaces the former Chairman of the party, Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa, whose tenure expired earlier in the year.

Other officers elected at the convention include Deputy National Chairman (North), Musa Shehu; Deputy National Chairman (South), Professor Clinton Akuche; National Secretary, Akin Fashogbon; National Publicity Secretary, Olayinka Nola; National Auditor, Ismail Ayodele and National Women Leader, Abigail Aina.
In his acceptance speech, Avazi, said he will consolidate the achievements of his predecessor and ensure that AD becomes the leading progressive party in Africa.
He said he will rebrand the party and empower its members with a view to winning state and national elections in 2019.
