Lagos – Election observers have reportedly dismissed the just ended Bayelsa governorship supplementary election, saying the poll did not meet international standards.
According to Punch, the Coalition of the Independent National Electoral Commission said this in a 10-point communiqué on Friday.
The group said the election was marred by violence before and during the exercise.
The group also said acts of blood-letting, snatching of ballot boxes and kidnapping of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) personnel across the state were worrisome.
Governor Seriake Dickson of the Progressive Peoples Party (PDP) won a second term in office by a wide margin against his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival Timipre Sylva.
