Makurdi - The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State house of Assembly, Hon. James Okefe, has defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Okefe who won his election on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) announced his defection to the APC on Tuesday, reports Sun
He said he had already tendered his resignation letter to dump the PDP and also made known his intention to join the APC.
Okefe's letter of defection, which was read on the floor of the assembly by the Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange revealed that he was leaving the PDP because of the crisis rocking it at the center.

Welcoming the new entrant to the APC, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Benjamin Adayin assured him of fulfilling stay in the ruling party.
The PDP has, however, described Okefe's action as act of cowardice, reports Daily Post
The party lambasted the Deputy Speaker for waiting for such a long time before he could summon courage to cross-carpet.
