The report said that the decision, which was taken on Saturday, was aimed at resolving the crises that the party is facing.

The caretaker committee would run the affairs of the party for three months.

According to This Day, however, Sherrif, had, in fact called off the national convention of the party holding in Port Harcourt.

Sherrif, who made the announcement at a press briefing at Le Meridian Hotel, Port Harcourt, cited court orders restraining the party from proceeding with the convention as reason.
