Calls for calm after invalidation of Rivers poll

17 December 2015, 10:45Emeka Okonkwo

Abuja - The Rivers State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged supporters to remain calm and law-abiding following the nullification of the victory of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Several legislators have also had their wins nullified by the courts.

PDP said it would challenge the rulings, described as “an obvious gang-up” by the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Governor Nyesom Wike remains the Governor of Rivers State and the PDP would challenge the decision of the Appeal Court in Supreme Court,” said Rivers PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah.

He insisted nonetheless, the PDP still held the Judiciary in high esteem and strongly believed that not all judicial officers could be compromised.

Obuah further assured that Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP would emerge victorious at the end of the day.

The party will contest, at the Supreme Court, the nullification of the poll outcomes by the Appeal Court. – CAJ News
