Abuja - The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday sacked Aniekan Uko, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, reports NewsDay.
The court in its ruling held that the election of Uko, who represents Ibesikpo Asuntan constituency, was marred with malpractices and irregularities.
The panel of three judges led by Justice Moshood Oredola Abdulrahman ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a rerun election in the constituency within 90 days.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the election, Gabriel Akpan, had approached the court after his petition was struck out by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Petitions Tribunal on the grounds that it was filed after the 21 days limit provided for in the Constitution.
