Umuahia - Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Umuahia, has nullified the election of Kelechi Onuzuruike of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a member of the Abia State House of Assembly, representing Umuahia North Constituency, reports Today.
The judge ruled that Onuzuruike was not the authentic candidate of the party in the April 11, 2015 election in the state.
According to Vanguard, Sunday Ajero, who contested the party’s primary poll with Onuzuruike, approached the court to declare him the rightful candidate of the party.
He contended that the defendant emerged through a parallel party primary poll held outside the constituency and, hence, was not eligible to contest the election.
Delivering judgment, Justice Osiagor said that Onuzuruike was not the authentic candidate of the party and therefore, ruled in favour of the plaintiff.
