Court sacks Ekiti lawmaker

04 July 2016, 17:09

Ado Ekiti - A Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has nullified the election of Musa Arogundade of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , representing Ado constituency I in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, reports Tribune.

Delivering judgment in the suit by Toyin Obayemi also of PDP, the court ruled that Arogundade was not the authentic candidate of the party in the April 11, 2015 election in the state.

Obayem according to Daily Post had dragged Arogundade to court seeking the nullification of his election as the lawmaker representing Ado Constituency 1.

Obayemi averred that Arogundade who did not participate in the Assembly primary election suddenly became a candidate at the election.

The presiding judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo in its ruling ordered the Speaker of the House to swear in Obayemi
