Yenagoa - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday presented the Certificate of Return to Gov Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State as winner of the state governorship election, reports The Nation.
The governor was issued with the certificate at the commission’s office in Yenagoa, the state capital amid jubilation from party faithful, aides, youth leaders, women groups and members of the state House of Assembly.
The state Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah (rtd) also received his Certificate of Return.

Presenting the certificates to Dickson and Jonah, INEC’s Supervising National Commissioner, South-South, Mr. Mustapha Leki, said it was the responsibility of the commission to present the certificates following the declaration by the returning officer.
Dickson, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election was declared winner of the poll after polling more votes to defeat his rival, Timpre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dignitaries that witnessed the event included Chief of Staff to the governor, Talford Ongolo, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson.
Others are former acting governor Ebebi, Director-General, Restoration Campaign Organisation, Fred Agbedi and commissioners.
