Ekiti Assembly accuses APC of plotting to impeach Fayose

09 March 2016, 12:07

Ado Ekiti - Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday alleged that the All Progressive Congress (APC) led federal government was offering the sum of $1 million to some of them to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Addressing a press conference at the assembly's chamber on Tuesday, the lawmakers, speaking through the chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon Gboyega Aribisogan, said it also had an intelligence report that 18 of its members had been pencilled down for arrest with a view to forcing them to sign impeachment notice against the governor.

He said in the last four days, eight members of the assembly had been visited by some men, who claimed to be officials of the DSS.

Aribisogan, who was flanked by 12 other members of the assembly, described last Friday's invasion of the assembly by the DSS operatives during which they claimed four of their members were abducted as a prelude to the clandestine plot to coerce members of the House of Assembly to impeach Fayose.
