Ekweremadu explains why APC is after him

01 August 2016, 14:38

Enugu - Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu on Sunday said the only reason why the All Progressives Congress- led federal government is after him is because of his emergence as the Deputy President of the Senate against the wishes of the powers that be, reports Sun

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Ekweremadu and two others are standing trial at the FCT High Court over forgery of the senate rules, according to News 24.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun recently revealed that the party is still bitter at the emergence of Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President.

Speaking when members of Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee paid a solidarity visit to him at his residence in Enugu on Sunday, Ekweremadu said his hands were clean.

He noted that he knew nothing about the alleged forging of the Senate rules book.

Ekweremadu reiterated his commitment to the principles of the separation of power, independence of the legislature, and growth of the nation’s democracy.
