Enugu - Kinsmen of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, have denied endorsing him for the 2019 governorship election in Enugu State
Though Ekweremadu, who has been in the Senate since 2003, is yet to declare interest to vie for the governorship, some groups in the state have already endorsed him to contest for the position.

The Deputy President hails from the same senatorial zone with the immediate past governor, Sullivan Chime.
Ekweremadu’s kinsmen under the aegis of Save Awgu Forum has said it is not part of any plan to adopt a governorship candidate for Enugu State ahead of the 2019 governorship election.
The leader of the group, Emperor Baywood Ibe, stated this on Tuesday while briefing newsmen,
He said the people of the area have resolved to support the administration of Ifeanyi Ugwuany, noting that after the second tenure of Ugwuany, anybody from the area can aspire to replace him.
