Ex-governor, 4 others jostle for PDP chairmanship position

Abuja - Five chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the North-east are warming up to fill the vacant position of the party’s National Chairman, reports Tribune.

The five aspirants are the Second Republic Governor of the old Gongola State, Ambassador Wilberforce  Juta; former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abba Gana, the PDP National Vice Chairman (North-East), Giri Lawan,  Dr Suleiman Kumo and former Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil.

Wakil was earlier picked by a section of the North-east stakeholders of the party but was later rejected.

The party's  National Caucus, Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC)are scheduled to meet this week to ratify the choice of the North- east to serve out the tenure of Adamu Mu'azu who resigned as the party boss after the party's election defeat in 2015.
