Ex-ministers give Jonathan deadline to withdraw support for Sheriff

19 February 2016, 14:55

Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan has incurred the wrath of some of his ministers and members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following his decision to support the choice Al Modu Sheriff as the new National Chairman of the PDP, reports The Nation.

Jonathan had on Wednesday described Sheriff as the right choice for the position.

The former ministers and members of the BoT have raised a committee to meet with the ex-President to discuss the implications of his endorsement of Sheriff.

The committee is expected to tell Jonathan to withdraw his support for Sheriff or he losses the respect the ministers and the BoT have for him.

The team will tell Jonathan the grave implications of picking Sheriff to lead the PDP.

The committee is also expected to issue a March deadline to Jonathan to reject Sheriff.

They have vowed to dump the party for other parties if nothing happens after the March deadline.
