Fayose dares court over PDP South-west congress

13 May 2016, 14:16

Abuja - Gov Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-west Zonal Congress slated for Saturday in Akure, Ondo State will hold as scheduled.

A Federal High in Lagos State had on Thursday restrained the party and its National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, from conducting any election into the party’s South-west Zonal Executive Committee.

But, the governor, who addressed reporters at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, said materials for the congress had been distributed through the appropriate authority.

He said the party was not aware of any court order, stopping the congress and as such, machinery is in motion for a hitch-free congress.

He stated that anybody talking about court order to stop the congress is only deceiving himself.

He said the era of people forcing themselves on the party, using court orders is gone and anyone interested in party positions must be ready to face elections.
