Abuja – All is not well in the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party, following indications that chairperson Ali Modu Sheriff is aiming for the presidency in 2019.
According to Punch, there was a strong belief within the party that Sheriff and the controversial Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose were planning to jointly run for the presidency in 2019.
A reliable source said that Fayose was aiming at becoming Sheriff’s running mate in the next presidential election.
But the move could turn ugly for the party, as another source said that there was no way both men would be allowed to fly the party’s ticket.
PDP chiefs were also said to be worried about the close relationship that had been established between the two men in recent times, as they often attended several social events together.
