Former commissioners, lawmakers dump PDP for APC in Ondo

28 April 2016, 16:59

Akure - Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State further depleted on Wednesday as prominent members of the party across the state defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among the defectors were former commissioners in the Olusegun Mimiko government, former lawmakers and council chairmen.

They included former Commissioner for Adult, Technical and Vocational Training, Kehinde Momoh and Tayo Oluwatuyi, who served as Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Former members of the State House of Assembly who defected are Bamido Omogbehin and Oyebo Aladetan.

Erstwhile local government chairmen who also defected included Olu Falolu, Tobi Akinlalu and Bailey Arohunmolase.

Others were Jimoh Esan, Mike Adeyeye, Kasali Obanoyen,  Ajani Oladipupo, Yele Akinya, Segun Ogodo, Banji Kuroloja and Ayo Ojomo among others.

Arohunmolase, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said they decided to join APC with their followers because PDP did no longer exist in the state.

According to him, the people of the state were already tired of unfulfilled promises from the ruling government in the state.

He said the people were ready to work with the leadership of APC to bring the expected change to the state.
