Former Ekiti PDP senator defects to APC

Ado Ekiti - A former senator who represented Ekiti South senatorial district on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gbenga Aluko has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reports New Telegraph.

Aluko, son of the late revered Economist, Prof. Sam Aluko, was the only PDP Senator in the South-west zone between 1999 and 2003 during the first term of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He defected to the APC on Saturday along with scores of his supporters in the PDP.

At an event held in his Ode-Ekiti country home and attended by party leaders and supporters, Aluko expressed his readiness to do everything within his powers to ensure APC regains power in the state in 2018.

Among the state leaders present included the State Deputy Chairman, Kemi Olaleye, Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun; State Secretary, Paul Omotoso; and South Senatorial District Chairman, Kayode Babade, who formally welcomed the former senator into the party.
