Former Ondo Attorney General emerges PDP governorship candidate

Akure - Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, reports Vanguard.

Jegede was on Monday afternoon declared the winner of the PDP governorship primaries which was held in Akure, the state capital.

Chairman of the PDP Primary Election Committee for Ondo State and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, announced the results of the primary election at the International Cultural and Event Centre (The Dome), Akure, on Monday.

Jegede won 760 votes to defeat the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2012 governorship election, Saka Lawal, who polled 22 votes.

Jegede, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), served as AG from 2009 till July 22, 2016 when he resigned to pursue his governorship ambition.
