Former Oyo State governor joins APC

09 December 2015, 11:52

Ibadan - After months of speculations, former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala has confirmed that he would soon be joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), reports The Nation.

Akala was the governor of the state between 2007 and 2011 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

He contested for re-election in 2011 but lost to the incumbent Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the APC.

The crisis in the PDP in 2014 forced him to leave the party to join the Labour Party (LP) as its governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections.

He again lost to Ajimobi

Akala on Tuesday said his decision to leave LP for APC was reached at a meeting which he held with his supporters.

He said he has agreed with all his followers that everyone should join APC in their wards across the state.
