Makurdi - Former Senate President, Ameh Ebute, immediate past governor of Benue State, Steve Lawani and two former Ministers, Sam Ode and Professor Jerry Agada were among chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that defected to the All Progressives Congress in Benue State on Saturday, reports Tribune.
Others were the women leader of PDP, A.O. Mary; former commissioner in the immediate past administration,Egbiri Idah; Secretary to the State Government under George Akume's administration, Bathlomeu Oche; former permanent secretary, Ministry of DefenCe, Mike Onoja, among others.
They joined the ruling APC with thousands of their followers at a carnival-like ceremony held at the Government Day College in Otukpo.

The defectors were received into the APC fold by the party’s National Chairman, John Oyegun.
Oyegun noted that most of the defectors were his friends and colleagues in the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) of the aborted third republic.
He assured them that the party at state and national levels would not discriminate against them.
