Gunmen kill APC leader in Bayelsa

Yenagoa - Gunmen suspected to be political thugs have shot dead Diseye Dickson, the Deputy Ward Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 1 in Odi, Kolokuma-Opokuma Council Area of Bayelsa State, reports Vanguard.

Dickson was shot dead at Odi community at about 11pm on Wednesday by the gunmen allegedly clad in military uniform.

Dickson's death is coming just three days to the governorship election in the state

Aside Dickson, a woman was also injured in the buttocks by a stray bullet.

The APC leadership in the state through the Sylva/Igiri campaign Organisation has alleged that the killing was carried out by suspected thugs hired by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party described the killing as wicked, unwarranted and provocative.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva/Igiri campaign Organisation, Nathan Egba urged the police to go after the killers of Dickson and other APC members in the state.
