Impeached Kogi speaker, 14 others petition Dogara

Abuja - The impeached’ Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Momoh Jimoh-Lawal, and 14 other members of the assembly supporting him on Wednesday petitioned the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara,  reports Leadership

The lawmakers want the House to intervene in the crisis rocking the assembly.

A group of five other lawmakers purportedly impeached awal and other principal officers of the House.

The group later installed Umar Umar as the new Speaker while the four others also announced themselves as the principal officers of the State House of Assembly.

The Lawal group in its petition accused Gov Yahaya Bello of being behind the leadership crisis rocking the assembly.

In the petition, 10 lawmakers alleged that their signatures were forged to carry out the purported impeachment exercise on Tuesday under the protection of Governor Bello.

They noted that there was no plenary sitting of the House on the day of the purported impeachment.
