Jonathan’s former aide drags PDP to court over chairmanship

18 November 2015, 20:37

Abuja - An aspirant for the national chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Gulak has sued the National Working Committee of the party for allegedly refusing to initiate the process of filling the vacant position, reports NewsDay.

Gulak, who is a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Goodluck Jonathanin an interview with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, alleged that the acting national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, had refused to initiate the process of filling the vacancy created by the resignation of the former chairman, Adamu Muazu.

He said he instituted the suit because of the need to put the PDP back on the track.

He said the party’s constitution made it clear that somebody from the North East where Muazu hails from should be appointed to replace him.

Gulak regretted that despite this constitutional provision, Secondus has refused to initiate the process for the fulfillment of that provision.

The suit filed at Court No. 4 of the FCT High Court comes up for hearing on November 25, 2015.
