Jonathan’s loyalist, PDP stalwarts join APC

Yenagoa - Twenty-six days to the Bayelsa State governorship election, a gale of defections has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Some loyalists of former President Goodluck Jonathan and Gov. Seriake Dickson have defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, reports Daily Times.

Among those that left the PDP for the APC includes a former Commissioner in Bayelsa State and a close ally to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Bishop Biobarakuma Degi Eremienyon and the former Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party, Douglas Samson Awudu.

They defected with thousands of their supporters

Among the defectors was the father of a serving commissioner in the current administration in the state, Iniuro Wills, who is Commissioner for Environment.

The defectors said the decided to leave the party because the PDP government has failed in its aspirations for the people of the state, noting that the APC candidate in the election, Timipre Sylva,would continue from where he stopped in 2012 in the development of the state.
