Kachikwu demonisation blamed on APC squabbles

30 November 2016, 20:30

Lagos - Supporters of Petroleum Minister, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, have alleged a media propaganda to have the minister sacked in the wake of renewed militancy in the Niger Delta.

The said propaganda reportedly emanates from infighting with the ruling All Progressives Congress in the Delta State.

Some media have reported the minister had been “insincere” hence the spate of attacks on oil installations in the volatile region.

A leading publication, name withheld, has come under fire for the allegations.

“The publication is sponsored to destroy the minister's image and possibly facilitate his sack. It will never yield the desired results,” the Rescue Delta Media Group.

The organisation is aligned to the All Progressives Congress in the Delta State.

Spokesperson, Fred Oghenesivbe, alleged a plot against Kachikwu since his nomination for the ministerial position.

He said a development angered some key players in Delta APC.

“It is unfair for this cabal to hate Kachikwu to the extent of initiating malicious publications to assassinate his character and person.”

Oghenesivbe urged the general public and the Presidency to ignore the said publication because it lacked” merit, a display of falsehood and laced with evil nutrients of dirty politics.”

“The publication is the voice of Esau and the hand of Jacob. It is evil, undemocratic and a political strategy to scheme out Ibe Kachikwu from playing leadership roles in Delta APC.”
