Kaduna APC splits

07 December 2015, 09:43

Abuja - The Kaduna State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has split into two, with one of the factions adopting a ludicrous name in the process.

The new faction, labelled "True APC", has reported that the split was caused due to dissatisfaction with decisions made by State governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. The group also accused the governor of not implementing party policy and denying voters the change they seek.

Notable members of the faction include Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Permanent Secretary in the state, former ANPP chairman Alhaji Kabir Umar, former education commissioner Tom Mataimaki Maiyashi and current Publicity Secretary Murtala Abubakar, among others.

Abubakar has described the "True APC" as a group of responsible people who worked to remove the PDP from power and affect change within the state.

In reaction to the news, the Kaduna State APC has passed a vote of confidence in Governor El-Rufai, saying that his policies are in line with the party's manifesto. They have also called out the faction as being an antic of the PDP, in an effort to distract and defame the party.
