Kano lawmakers deny collecting N17m bribe to dump Kwankwaso

22 March 2016, 18:42

Kano - Members of Kano State House of Assembly have denied receiving N17 million bribe in order to dump former governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and to support Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in the current disagreement between the two leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Majority Leader of the House, Yusuf Ata, at press briefing on Monday in Kano dismissed the claim, describing it as total falsehood and malicious allegation to blackmail the lawmakers.

Former media aide to Kwankwaso, Sharu Garba Gwammaja had claimed that Gov Ganduje approved N17.2m for each of the 34 members who supported him.

Gwammaja said the money was shared to the members as bribe to declare support for the governor and renounce the red cap.

Yusuf Ata said the House had instituted a legal action against Gwammaja over the matter and he has been arrested by the  police.
