Lokoja - Ten members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, led by factional Speaker, Imam Umar on Thursday sat in defiance of a resolution of the House of Representatives to take over functions of the Assembly.
The House had in a resolution on Tuesday ordered the sealing off the Assembly complex, following a crisis over the Speakership of the Assembly.
In an address at the resumed sitting of the House, Umar faulted the decision of the House to takeover the functions of Assembly, saying it was illegal.

He said the Assembly has been conducting its legislative businesses both at plenary and at committee levels, contrary to the claims made by the House that the Assembly was unable to perform its functions.
The lawmakers at Thursday’s sitting also held a valedictory session in honour of the late Minister of State for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi.
Lawmakers loyal to Momohjimoh Lawal, who took their case to the National Assembly, however, stayed away.
