Kogi-East APC nominates Audu’s son

Lokoja - Leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East Senatorial District have nominated Mohammed, first son of Late Abubakar Audu, to replace him as the party’s governorship candidate in the December 5 supplementary election, reports Daily Trust.

The leaders, stakeholders and delegates, who made this known in Lokoja on Thursday after a marathon meeting, said they arrived at the decision after due consultations .

Isa Daniel, Kogi East zonal chairman, made their position known in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting.

Isah thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the national leadership of the party for the opportunity given to them to find a replacement for Audu who died on November 22 

He said Kogi East APC has no other candidate to field for the substitution other than Mohammed Audu, adding that the party’s constitution gives special waiver for a consensus candidate in the scenario that played out in Kogi.
