The duo acceptance of the position may have finally put an end to the crisis rocking the Senate since Saraki emerged Senate President.

The decision of Lawan, Akume and other leaders of Unity Forum to accept chairmanship of the committees was the offshoot of a three-hour meeting of the group in the office of Senator Barnabas Gemade on Thursday.

Sixteen senators were said to have attended the meeting.

When contacted by newsmen, Lawan declined comment, saying he is on sabbatical for press interviews.
