Low turnout mars Osun Assembly bye election

Osogbo - The bye election for Osun Central State Constituency conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was marred by low turnout of voters on Saturday.

The election was held to fill the vacant seat in the State House of Assembly following the death of the lawmaker representing the constituency, Oladejo Makinde who was elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

The candidate of PDP for the bye election, Dipo Eluwole while speaking with journalists at Akodi Faloyin unit 09, lauded the INEC and security operatives for their efforts in ensuring free and fair election.

The candidate of the Accord Party, Olusegun Ayodele Fanibe, expressed optimism in his party's victory, saying something is about to change in Ile-Ife as people have determined to choose instead of allowing the giant to choose for them.

Also, candidate of All Progressive Congress, Tilewa Sijuwade expressed satisfaction in the conduct of the election.

The election was peaceful and there was no report of violence.
