Metuh denies knowledge of suit against PDP

28 July 2016, 13:40

Abuja - The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh has denied knowledge of any suit seeking the stoppage of the August 17 convention of the party, reports NewsDay

Metuh, who spoke through his special adviser, Richard Ihediwa, said he is not aware of any suit to stop the party's convention.

Metuh's name was listed among nine former national officers of the party that approached a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an injunction to stop the convention.

Other former national officers listed in the suit according to New 24 are Ali Modu Sheriff, (National Chairman) Prof. Wale Oladapo (National Secretary); Dennis Alonge-Niyi (Deputy National Youth Leader); Bashir Maidugu (Deputy National Legal Adviser); Hanatu Ulam (Deputy National Women Leader); Lawa Dutsima Anchi (Deputy National Auditor); Okey Nnadozie (Deputy National Organising Secretary)

The applicants want the court to stop the party from going ahead with the planned national convention pending the determination of their substantive suit.

The court has fixed Thursday to hear their motion for interlocutory injunction seeking an order to stop the convention.

But Metuh on Wednesday denied knowledge of the suit.

He said his name was wrongly included in the list.
