Monarch curses subjects who vote against APC in Edo governorship election

Benin City - The Iyase of Udo kingdom, Patrick Igbinidu, has placed curses on his subjects who vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 10 Edo State gubernatorial election, reports Leadership.

The monarch placed this curse on Tuesday when he received the APC's governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki and members of his campaign team in histhe palace, in Udo, near Benin, in Ovia South West local government area of Benin.

He stated that the ancestors of the land await those who will vote against Obaseki in the election.

According to the monarch, "the entire Udo kingdom should vote for him and anyone who gives his votes to another person is on his own."

Recalled that a similar incident happened in Lagos State in the run-up to the 2015 governorship election in the state.

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu had allegedly threatened Igbo people in the state to vote for the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, or face death.

Oba Akiolu according to News 24 had said that any Igbo who did not vote for Ambode will perish in the lagoon.
