Minna - Local government elections in the 25 local council areas of Niger State would now hold on January 16, reports Punch.
The poll was earlier scheduled for November 7, 2015 but was postponed due to logistics reasons.

The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) said everything needed for the conduct of the elections had been put in place.
Spokesman for the commission, Mohammed Ali, said that no fewer than 3 185 ad hoc personnel had been trained while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was assisting with the voter register and ballot boxes.
He said the commission will employ the use of the card readers used by INEC in the 2015 general elections.
