Abuja - Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the seven states in the North-west have declared their support for the Senator Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee, reports Daily Trust
The declaration of support for Makarfi came days after a similar move by members of the PDP in the North-east states for the self acclaimed National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
Makarfi is from the North-west while Sheriff is from the North-east.
Sheriff and Makarfi are locked in a battle for the soul of the party as both men lay claim to the leadership of the party.

Speaking on behalf of party chieftains from the zone when they visited Makarfi in Abuja, Ambassador Ibrahim Musa Kazaure said members of the party from the zone are solidly behind the Caretaker Committee and trust that the Committee will organize an acceptable National Convention that will elect new leaders.
The delegation included Chairmen and Secretaries of Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina and Kebbi states
Kazaure, who is the party's National Vice Chairman, North-west, assured members of the party that Makarfi is very efficient to reposition the party given his track records in Kaduna State as governor for eight years and also as a senator.
