Ondo APC crisis deepens as senatorial chairman resigns

06 September 2016, 13:08

Ondo - The crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State deepened on Monday, as the chairman of the Ondo Central Senatorial district, Gboyega Adedipe, resigned his position, Tribune reports.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Adesanya, while confirming the resignation, said the former senatorial chairman of the party had returned all the property of the party in his possession to the party secretariat in Akure.

It was gathered that Adedipe’s resignation might not be unconnected with the emergence of the party’s candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, last Saturday.

However, it was gathered that some leaders of the party tried to prevail on Adedipe against the resignation urging him to rescind the decision but he insisted on resigning.

Rotimi Akeredolu emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State according to News24.

Akeredolu, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) defeated Olusegun Abraham, the preferred candidate of the national leader of the party, Bola Tunubu.
