Akure - The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has announced April 23 as the date for the conduct of elections into the 18 local government council areas in the state, reports NewsDay.

Ige attributed the delay in conducting the polls to the court cases instituted by the council chairmen that were dissolved by Governor Olusegun Mimiko on assumption of office in 2009 and financial constraints of the state government.
He said the commission will be meeting with all political parties on the release of the election guidelines.
He said both the councillorship and chairmanship election would hold on the same day.
