Ondo LG polls: APC issues stay at home order to members

22 April 2016, 20:39

Akure - The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has restated its boycott of the local government elections taking place across the state on Saturday.

The party on Friday urged its members to stay at home and not participate in the exercise.

The party in a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Steve Otaloro, said the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state could not be trusted to do anything right.

He stated that there was no authentic voters register for the elections, arguing that the register available for use had not been reviewed since the last general election as required by the law.

Otaloro noted that the election was a waste of tax payers’ money especially at a time when the state civil servants were groaning over unpaid five months salaries.

The party had on Thursday lost in its bid to stop the elections.

A Court of Appeal threw out the party's suit against the conduct of the elections.
